What is Backyard Kidz Rock?

Backyard Kidz Rock (BKR) exists to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children and their families in our own backyards. This is done by providing an enriching environment in a neutral location that teaches the Bible, provides for relational growth, and a place to have fun! We have been called to love the brokenhearted, bring hope to hopeless, and be a light in this dark world. We were rescued to be rescuers. In a nutshell, we are taking VBS to the lost!

A typical BKR needs a team of 4 to 6 people, about 20 kids, and about 2 hours a week for five weeks.

A typical schedule looks like the following:

Early Arrival Games 15 to 20 minutes
Opening Rally 15 minutes
Bible Study Time 30 minutes
Recreation 25 minutes
Snacks 10 minutes
Crafts 25 minutes
Closing Rally 15 minutes

Who Is It For?

Backyard Kidz Rock is for any child in Kindergarten - 5th grade and their families. Any child may attend, but just like a missions trip, the goal is to reach children and families who don't know Jesus or attend a church. That being said, kids need to see fellow kids who are believers in God, so they are welcomed too!

How Can I Serve?

There are two ways to serve God within BKR: be a Host Home or a Team Member.

As the Host Home, you are the team leader and responsible for hosting the BKR. The BKR will be held at your home (or alternative location), you coordinate your team, gather supplies, outreach, executing the outreach, and follow-up. We ask whoever wants to be a Host Home be parents of elementary kids, can devote themselves to this calling, working to be a follower of Jesus, and knows how to have fun!

As a Team Member, you are responsible for helping the Host Home put on a BKR. You could help in the following areas: outreach, snacks, crafts, games, acting, registration, bible story, worship, and follow-up. You are the team that makes it happen! Anyone is welcome to serve in this capacity. We also ask, however, that you can devote yourself to this calling, working to be a follower of Jesus, and knows how to have fun!

Am I All Alone?

You are not alone! With every BKR home, you get a trusted specialist to help you plan, train, cast vision, recruit, gather supplies, give outreach tips, and more! Your specialist wrote the curriculum you'll be using, so they can help you with anything!

You Host and put on the BKR by yourself, but you have a specialist to help you with all the prep work and any questions you may have as you actually host.
