Wes Morris | Pastor
Jesus saved my soul a month before my 7th birthday when my 1st grade teacher shared the gospel with the class. Later that year we were in line waiting to go to lunch and she called on me to pray for the meal. After I prayed, she said, “Wes, you’re going to be a preacher one day.” I rebelled against this for nearly a decade, but I couldn’t escape God’s call on my life to serve Him. I attended Liberty University where I met the greatest woman I’ve ever known. In the 13 years that Erin & I have been married, we have watched God do things far beyond anything I ever could have imagined! I believe in the power of gospel-preaching revival and intend to spend my life giving everything I have toward that end.
I like outdoor, adrenaline filled adventures of any kind, cutting and stacking firewood, and spending time with Erin and our 5 great kids: Preston, Ella, Franklin, Quintin, and Joelle.
Scott Johnson | Associate Pastor
I accepted Jesus at a young age, but never fully surrendered my life to Him until my senior year of college. It was also during this time, that I met my wife Jessica. A few years later, I followed His call into full time ministry. I am extremely grateful to have my wife Jessica, share my desire of teaching others to walk daily with Christ. We both have a passion for the ministry and for young single adults to find their identity in Christ alone. Jessica and I have 3 wonderful children; Riley, Lincoln, and Kenzie. There is no doubt that God has called us to the Rock Church and we look forward to serving here for many years.
I love down time with Jessica and the kids, lions and wolverines football, and playing golf and basketball.
God developed a passion in me to lead teenagers to a true, life-changing relationship with Christ when I was a teen myself. I followed the Lord’s leading from my home in Florida to Liberty University where I was blessed to complete studies in student ministry and counseling. After several other ministry positions, my wife Kristy and I followed God to Fenton, Michigan in September 2011. Since moving to Michigan, we’ve been blessed to have our two daughters Zoey and Lillian, and a third child on the way.
Food! The more unique, the more interested I am. I love cooking it, learning about it, and eating it! I enjoy finding new hole-in-the-wall places to try.
I am a doer: hunting, fishing, snow sports, water sports, 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, golf, etc. It doesn't really matter what it is, I love recreation, especially outdoors.
Emery Anstett | Prime Timers & Ground Maintenance
I came to know the Lord at age 14 as a foster kid in the system. A few years later, I felt the call at a youth camp to give my life to serve the Lord. I had the opportunity to serve at that same camp two years later. That summer the staff director encouraged me to go to Bible school after high school. I attended Word of Life Bible Institute. I worked many jobs over the years, but made time to serve the Lord in various ways. Pastor Jim saw me faithfully serving at the Rock and invited me to come on staff in 2006. Through serving the Lord, I met my wife of five years. We are foster parents with the goal to adopt...how many is up to Him.
Kayaking, biking, being a big kid, and helping at various children’s camps.
Lyndsay Hudgens | Music Director
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home where my parents taught me who Jesus is and what it means to follow Him. At a young age, I gave my heart to Jesus. I have attended and served at the Rock since I was 12 years old and found my passion in serving on the worship team. Since taking the position as the music director in 2012, I have often stood in amazement at what God has allowed me to be involved in as a part of this ministry. My husband, Brenan, and I met at The Rock when we were in high school and were married in the fall of 2014. He is also very passionate about the ministry, spending much of his time serving in rockyouth and even preaching when the opportunity arises.
I enjoy cooking, going out to eat, reading, sitting and drinking coffee with friends, going to the movies, and watching Netflix.
Neil Thompson | Director of Ministry Operations
After spending 20 years leading and building teams in the corporate sector, God called me to leave that career to pursue a full-time career in the ministry. My wife, Trina, and I immediately began following this calling by downsizing and changing our life. During that time God opened the door to become the Director of Ministry Operations at The Rock. This role includes the overseeing of all day to day ministry operations and logistics, providing additional staff support and accountability, as well as helping with implementation and organization of existing and future ministry efforts aimed at fulfilling the great commission both locally and globally.
I enjoy traveling! Most of my travel includes trips to foreign countries on mission trips to countries like Haiti, Jordan, and Mexico. When not on a mission trip you can find us working on many projects around the house and restoring our 1910 Linden home.
Kristy Motte | Children's Director
Because of the absence of my father, the message of a Heavenly Father that loved me enough to give up all that He had for me really resonated with me. I accepted Christ just before I turned five and it was truly His presence in my life that carried me through a tumultuous childhood. Even as a young child, I remember an intense desire to teach others about Christ and to serve however I could. God faithfully provided opportunity after opportunity to teach others in awana, children’s church, and as a local summer missionary in high school. It was only after attending Liberty University for worship and music ministry and taking a job as a music teacher that I realized that God had made me to teach. I went back to school for education and have been blessed to serve alongside of my husband in ministry for many years. While I love any type of teaching, teaching young people about God’s incredible love while helping them discover who He created them to be is truly my passion.
I love cooking, snowboarding, and anything that allows me to spend time with my husband and our two precious daughters!
Tracey Helms | Office Administrator
As a young girl, I was raised knowing Christ; but fully committed my life to following Him in 2000. I discovered my love for ministry by serving with children in a local church. When my family came to The Rock in 2004, I began volunteering in many different areas of ministry including working in the office. It was then that I felt God call me into full-time ministry. I began working at The Rock as the office administrator. It has been an awesome journey as I have been involved in so many different areas of ministry. I love studying His Word, working with kids in our mid-week program, and serving in the women’s ministry.
My husband, Scott, and I have been married for 18 years. We have two awesome kids, Ashley and Parker, who are both currently in college and a two-year old foster child named Jacob, who is such a joy to our family.
I love to read, coach and play volleyball, and spend time with my family and friends.
Lisa Eimers | Administrative Assistant
I was raised in a Christian home and my family started attending Linden Community Baptist, now known as The Rock, when I was 4 years old. I accepted Christ at a young age but truly started following Him when I was a teenager. I originally went to college to study Elementary Education, but soon realized I wanted a profession that was more relationship instead of instruction oriented. I completed studies at Rochester College in Counseling and Psychology and then at Liberty University in Human Service Counseling/Executive Leadership. My passion is to help people from all walks of life. Outside of the office, I serve as a co-coordinator for evening MOPS as well as a Kidz Rock small group leader on Wednesday nights. My husband, Justin, and I were married in October of 2007 and were blessed with a son, Elias, who was born in February of 2015.
I enjoy traveling, rock climbing, sipping on Starbucks, spending time with my family and friends, going on walks, eating anything from VG’s deli and wood fire oven pizza.
Ryan Turner | Technical Director
I was saved at the age of 11 and have been serving in technical ministry since I was 14 years old. I started helping out with children’s ministry tech and soon moved on to helping run tech for the main gatherings at my church. I have always been interested in all things technology and I tried to learn as much as I could from those I was serving with. When I started college, I had the dream of becoming the technical director at a church. I came to The Rock in 2012 and am responsible for all of the technical ministry here. I am blessed to have my dream job! My wife, Erica, and I were married in 2013 and we had our son, Jedediah in August of 2016. My wife helps me a lot and loves serving on the worship team.
I enjoy all things technology, playing sports, shooting guns, and watching movies.
