BOOM!….OUCH @#$%….as you slam your finger in the door.
Sometimes in life there are things that just push our buttons to the point that we crack, no matter how good we try to be on a normal basis. The heat is applied for far too long and then
we just explode.
But this is not the way Christ calls us to live. He asks us and even demonstrates through his own life for us to turn the other cheek when people push us to our breaking point. To show the love of Christ by having control of your self!
- How does a lack of self-control put us at risk of ‘disqualifying’ our testimony? (1 Cor. 9:27)
- What sin(s) are you most vulnerable to (or do you struggle with repeatedly) because of a lack of self-control? (Prov. 25:28)
- For example- if you lack the self-control to filter the media you view, you may struggle with lust as a result.
- How will you exercise discipline and self-control to guard against temptation in your most vulnerable areas?
Romans 6 tells us we are no longer slaves to sin. You can conquer the repetitive struggles you
have and experience freedom, but it takes self-control. Take real & specific steps this week to
exercise self-control and overcome temptation. Be ready to share about it next week!
