Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are working hard in the Detroit area to mud-out homes that were hard-hit by recent flooding. They are removing everything damaged by the water, including sheetrock, flooring, and personal belongings.

Wayne County, MI Flood Response

Location:Wayne County, MI

Project Description:Volunteers will be assisting homeowners affected by recent flooding. Volunteers will assist with mud-outs and debris cleanup.

Background Information:Heavy rainfall in Wayne County has caused widespread flooding affecting 3,000 homes in the county.

Minimum Age: Volunteers must be at least 14 years or older. Youth, ages 14-15, must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian.

Additional Information: Tools will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own tool belts and small hand tools. Volunteers should dress in long pants and bring work gloves, safety glasses, and sturdy boots. Volunteers should bring rubber boots for working in flooded areas.

Please arrive at our host location: Family Christian Church, 4380 West Jefferson Avenue, Ecorse, MI 48229 at 7:30 am or 12:30 pm for orientation. Volunteers will work Mondays - Saturdays, beginning Monday, May 6, 2019. Please bring a bagged lunch and water with you.
