Fasting For The Future

Yesterday (February 6th) kicked off a 40 day season of fasting & prayer among The Rock Church family. We are experiencing very exciting times as a church. Since the start of 2017, the Saturday night service has been consistently packed to the point where we have people sitting in an overflow room watching on a TV screen! For the last 3 weeks in a row at 10 am, we have had to pull out extra chairs at the Lake Fenton High School. Even more significant than numerical attendance, an ever-increasing amount of people are learning the Bible, serving God, giving faithfully, repenting of sin, experiencing blessing in marriage, and seeking to make disciples here and around the world.

We are actively working to grow our infrastructure by building a facility that can be used as an effective tool to reach even more of our community with the gospel—a place that stands as a lighthouse of hope to all who pass by and enter in, a place where sinners are welcomed, relationships are built, the gospel is preached, lives are changed, and disciples are made.

We will get there together. We will get there by every person seeking the Lord as to what his or her individual part will be in faithfully contributing to the goal. We have no debt at The Rock. This frees us to be able to point 100% of our resources toward the Great Commission of Jesus. As we seek to build greater infrastructure, we also seek to maintain a debt-free ministry. In order for this to happen, we must reach deep within ourselves and give sacrificially to the goal. The new building will cost $3 million to build. Today we have $575,000 saved. There are enough passionate people at The Rock, that when we all push together in the same direction, the goal will be reached in no time!

Ezra 8:23 says, “So we fasted and sought our God concerning this matter, and He listened to our entreaty.” My #1 request is that you join me in seeking the Lord by way of fasting & prayer. Fast and pray to ask of the Lord what He and He alone has called you to give. This goal isn’t about mere square footage…it’s about building the Kingdom of God! Therefore, it’s important to first spend time seeking God and asking, “Lord, what is my part in this?”

Understandably, many people are not clear on what the Word of God says about fasting and prayer. Click this link: to listen to a message I preached a few years ago answering the question: “What is fasting?” If you’d like to talk to a pastor about it, we’d love to meet with you.

After The Rock spends time seeking the Lord together through fasting and prayer, a full-scale rollout of the new building plan will be presented on Wednesday, March 22nd at 7pm. After that, there will be a team in place to give regular updates on the progress of the savings goal, as well as answers to any questions you may have.

Come on Rock Church! Let’s seek the Lord together. I have a feeling He’s about to do something incredible!
